Thermoplastic Splinting

Custom made thermoplastic splints are used to immobilise, protect and support injuries. The thermoplastic material is moulded to fit the patient's anatomy to enable maximum support without irritation.

The therapists at Prime Physiotherapy are trained in the application of upper limb thermoplastic splints for:

  • Thumb injuries:
    • Thumb joint sprains
    • Osteoarthritis
    • De Quervain's tensosynovitis
  • Finger injuries:
    • Mallet finger
    • Finger joint sprains

Some hand injuries can feel innocuous but if left untreated can cause long term problems with function. The therapists at Prime Physiotherapy can assess your injury and advise on the most appropriate course of management - whether that be conservative management or referral to a specialist.
